Description:

Living in a world where our lives are on hold waiting for a vaccine to come for Covid, we can imagine what it is like to be living your whole life with a disease for which there is no treatment, hoping against hope that a miracle happens and a treatment comes, not knowing what the future has in store.

How would you like to spend a puja evening this year watching a concert in aid of people living with such a disease that need your help?

Many of us cannot visit our parents or our children during puja this year as we do every year. But we could watch a concert together and treasure that time for days to come. This concert will bring the festival within your homes with a bouquet of performances from semi classical, popular and devotional genre. Prepare to be enthralled by the wondrous melodies of Sounak Chattopadhyay, powerful and mesmerising narration and poetry by Samya Karpha and magnetic dance performances by Rudrava Niyogi and his troupe based on various timeless songs that we would all want to sing and dance to! The concert will feature a performance by eminent musician Dr. Rahul Ram of the very popular fusion-rock band Indian Ocean! The performances will celebrate the message of universal love that binds each of us together in this world.

By attending this concert you will bring hope to patients with a rare and completely debilitating disease called GNE myopathy that shatters the dreams of young people by making them progressively more disabled with each passing year. People with GNE myopathy find it difficult to work, get married and have the things that we all take for granted. The proceeds from this concert will go to World Without GNE Myopathy (WWGM), the only organisation in India that is supporting patients with this disease for which there is no present treatment.

With COVID taking over our lives this year, we promise to brighten your puja evening and lift your spirit with performances of devotion and love. This concert, An Ode to Shakti celebrates the strength of each person living with GNE myopathy in overcoming this disease. Please support WWGM by buying a ticket for this concert!
